Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Bridge Engineer Designer to join our Chicago-based team. This role will involve designing, analyzing, and delivering bridge and structural engineering solutions for transportation projects. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented problem solver who thrives in a collaborative environment. Candidates with an interest in inspection and assessments, development of detailed plans and specifications, and construction engineering are encouraged.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in various tasks including plan preparation, structural analysis and design, report writing, specifications, quantity calculations, cost estimates, construction administration and other related tasks.

• Develop plans, specifications, and cost estimates for bridge projects.
• Conduct bridge condition assessments and prepare technical reports.
• Perform structural analysis and design for bridges and related structures.
• Use a variety of software and programs for structural analysis and design, and plan preparation.
• Supports the lead on the clients’ project delivery goals and supports the project engineer on issues that may influence the achievement of such goals.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including project managers and clients.
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and project requirements.
• Delivers high quality project documents and files.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on structural engineering required
• M.S. degree in Civil / Structural Engineering preferred
• 3+ years of experience in structural bridge design.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Illinois preferred, or ability to obtain.
• Proficiency in business and structural analysis software. Microsoft Office and Microstation are a must
• Knowledgeable of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with transportation agencies such as IDOT or the Illinois Tollway.
• Familiarity with CAD software and IDOT drafting practices.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
