Job Title: Business Development Representative (BDR) – CPA Market Focus

Location: Red Bank, NJ or Remote

Position Overview

We’re seeking a driven, tech-savvy Business Development Representative (BDR) to join our growing team. In this role, you will focus on generating qualified leads within the CPA and accounting sector—primarily small to mid-sized CPA firms, CAS practices, and accounting advisory groups. As the first point of contact, you’ll be responsible for identifying top prospects, engaging them through multi-channel outreach, and setting up high-value appointments for our Sales team.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead Generation & Prospecting
  • Research and identify prospective CPA firms (and relevant decision-makers) that could benefit from SysCloud’s backup, compliance, and data security solutions.
  • Maintain an organized pipeline of target accounts using CRM tools and LinkedIn Navigator.
  1. Outbound Outreach
  • Conduct high-volume outreach via cold calls, emails, and social media (LinkedIn) to introduce SysCloud’s value proposition for CPA firms.
  • Personalize messaging to address common pain points in the CPA sector (compliance, data loss, manual re-entry, client retention).
  1. Qualifying & Discovery
  • Engage prospects to understand their current challenges with QuickBooks data security, compliance requirements, and cloud application backups.
  • Qualify leads based on firm size, CAS involvement, data protection needs, and purchasing timeline.
  1. Appointment Setting
  • Collaborate with Inside Sales or Account Executives to schedule demos and discovery calls with highly qualified prospects.
  • Develop trust with prospects by confidently discussing SysCloud’s QBO backup, Data Change Insights, and potential ROI for CPA practices.
  1. Collaboration with Marketing & Sales
  • Provide feedback on lead quality, messaging effectiveness, and market trends to the Marketing team.
  • Share best practices and account insights with Sales to ensure seamless handoff and follow-up.
  1. Pipeline & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date activities, notes, and prospect data in the CRM (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce).
  • Track daily/weekly outreach metrics (calls, emails, conversion rates) and consistently meet or exceed targets for qualified leads.
  1. Continuous Learning
  • Stay informed about CPA industry trends, compliance requirements and SysCloud’s evolving product features.
  • Regularly attend product training sessions to effectively position SysCloud’s solutions and answer prospect questions.

Qualifications

  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience : 1–3 years in a BDR , SDR, or inside sales role—preferably targeting B2B SaaS or the accounting/financial services market.
  • Industry Exposure : Familiarity with CPA or accounting firm workflows is a plus (e.g., QuickBooks Online, CAS models).
  • Communication Skills : Excellent phone, email, and presentation skills. Ability to convey complex topics in a clear, concise manner.
  • Tech Savvy : Experience using CRM systems (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.), LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and sales engagement tools (Salesloft).
  • Goal-Oriented : Proven track record of meeting or exceeding targets in lead generation or appointment setting.
  • Team Player : Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Sales, Product) to refine outreach and messaging.
  • Adaptability : Willingness to iterate on outreach strategy based on feedback, metrics, and changing market dynamics.
