Job Description

Job Summary:

In collaboration with the operations and executive management team, this position is responsible for the execution of strategies and tactical plans for the North American Region, including facilities in Mexico. This position serves as a corporation resource to all staff and management teams at all sites and exercises independent judgment and operates within established guidelines.

Job Responsibilities:

The main duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Responsible for the overall direction of the corporate health, safety, and environmental program and monitoring of effectiveness.
  • Health, safety, and environmental liaison to the regional executive and Global team.
  • Serves on the Corporate Safety Steering Committee.
  • Participates in injury and incident investigations.
  • Responsible for the implementation of safety programs and policies.
  • Communicate with all levels of management and employees on safety problems as they arise.
  • Reviews with Safety Managers, and/or other management personnel, all safety procedures or equipment requirements.
  • Serves as management representative with OSHA, EPA, and/or other regulatory agencies.
  • Provide corporate-level safety training as necessary.
  • Identifies emerging safety best practices for continual improvement of programs.
  • Provides technical guidance and resources to support site initiatives.
  • Monitors regulatory changes and activity to ensure compliance at all regional Locations.
  • Develop safety policies, procedures, and strategies utilizing a high degree of independent thinking and creativity.
  • Assistant with employee communication and relations activities as required.
  • Ensure legal compliance in all Safety/Human Resource actions.
  • Support all business objectives of the company by aligning safety activities with the organizational goals and objectives.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to work with all levels of staff required.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of information is required.
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Possess the ability to perform duties utilizing current company software applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills required.
  • This position performs job duties in an ethical and professional manner.

Education: Bachelor's degree required, and professional certification (CIH, CSP) preferred.

Experience: 10 plus years prior related industrial experience preferred.

Physical Demands: Required to sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Ability to work 40 - 60 hours per week.

Travel: Domestic and international up to 30% is required.

Work Environment: Working in an office environment with exposure to manufacturing areas.
