Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District is currently hiring for a Firefighter/Paramedic (Lateral)
Position Title: Firefighter/Paramedic (Lateral)
Under general supervision of the Fire Captain, the Firefighter/Paramedic engages directly in fire suppression, fire prevention education, rescue, hazardous materials, and advanced emergency medical services.
A Firefighter/Paramedic (Lateral) are individuals with several years of prior experience, equivalent training, and are required to undergo additional in-house agency training upon transfer.

Salary information: $73,274 - $84,824 plus applicable incentives
Benefit Information:
● Incentive pay can include EOD, Hazmat, basin residency, holiday, uniform, education, field training paramedic, and field training officer ranging from 5.5% to 30% of base salary. A longevity incentive is added after completing 60 months of uninterrupted service, equal to 0.5% of the base salary for every year of service, up to a maximum of 12.5%
● Medical, dental, and vision insurance premiums are 100% paid for employees and dependents by the District
● Additional health savings account District-paid contributions
● NV PERS retirement contribution is 100% paid by the District
● Life, long-term disability, and accidental death premium 100% paid by the District
● NV deferred compensation and cafeteria plan (optional)
● Post-retirement health insurance premiums are 100% paid by the district for employees and spouses (earned after 25 years of employment at age 55) to age 65, then covered by a health reimbursement account. As of July 2021, this liability is fully funded, and one of the few agencies in the nation with this status

Department Overview:
The Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District recently celebrated its 75th anniversary and is a local government agency created pursuant to Nevada Revised Statutes to provide 24-hour emergency fire, rescue, emergency medical services, and other all-risk response to areas of Douglas County, Nevada within the Lake Tahoe Basin. TDFPD responds to and mitigates a wide variety of incidents that include EMS calls, structure fires, wildland fires, boat fires, technical rope rescues, vehicle extrication, backcountry rescues, EOD calls, and water rescues. The Fire District is made up of five stations staffed by approximately 45 line/staff and 60 wildland fire and fuels personnel.
Our Firefighters are highly trained throughout their careers, with many opportunities for special assignments. Hazmat, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), Fire Prevention, Water Rescue, Vehicle Extrication, Rope Rescue, Ice Rescue… there's something for everyone!

2 years full-time Firefighter/Paramedic professional experience, within the last 3 years, at an all-risk public fire agency and must be in good standing

EMS Training and Certifications
● Current Nevada Paramedic certification OR Current National Registered Paramedic with the ability to obtain a Nevada Paramedic Certification
● Successful candidates will be required to have at a minimum a provisional Nevada State EMS certification and Ambulance attendant license within 30 days of employment, and must complete the State Licensing requirements within 90 days of employment.
● ACLS, PALS, ITLS/PHTLS and CPR current certifications (Certifications that expire within 30 days must be renewed prior to start.)

● Pre-hire physical capacity assessment will include a 1-mile run, 100-meter open water swim, aerial ladder climb, and field-testing of firefighting skills.
